More Steam Photos on the West Central

A West Central Mk-1 Light Mikado heads up a mainline freight train near the bridge over the Green River near Little Falls.   These were USRA design engines and were used until the end of steam on the West Central in 1959.   The #2306 engine in the picture was preserved in a roundhouse and has been restored for excursions.  The model is a Powerhouse and was painted for the West Central by Dennis Hamilton.

A UP 2-6-2 Praire locomotive comes through a tunnel on the branchline.  Locomotive is a Roundhouse kit by Wally Schuster.

A West Central Mk-2 Heavy Mikado locomotive is being turned on the big turntable at the Ogden engine facilities.   The big heavy USRA Mikados were used on the West Central mainlines, but weight restrictions kept them off almost all of the branchlines and some seconday lines.   Locomotive model is by Rivarossi, with painting by Dennis Hamilton.   The big roundhouse was constructed by former member, Jon Poff.    The turntable was constructed by Wally Schuster, Jim Hunter, and Tom Hicks.  Operation improved by Ralph Edwards.

Santa Fe 2-10-2 is seen on the West Central.  A very nice looking
brass steamer is seen passing through Summit.  Locomotive of John Denny.
